Information on Special Needs Teaching at Twycross Zoo.

Twycross Zoo Education Department can offer you lively, interactive teaching sessions for your pupils.

A teaching session with our professional education staff can enhance your school outing at the zoo. We can give presentations on a variety of subjects aimed to tie in with the national curriculum.
Sessions usually last 30-minutes and are packed with interesting information that engages the children.

During many of the sessions our Education Officers will be accompanied by educational animals. Children remain focused on a subject or task and the animals encourage students to vocalise their experience. Multi-sensory sessions increase the learning potential by including several senses at once. This aids the recall and the retention of information. We offer sessions with sensory experiences, animal contact and artefacts to touch. The nature of the sessions allows children to learn through experiencing and brings the natural world to life.

Sessions:

• Last 30 minutes (unless specially arranged with the education department)

• As of 1st January 2006, price per group will be £15. (Group maximum 30). This does not include your entry to the zoo.

How to book:
All bookings must be made through the main office. Please have the following details at hand when booking a talk: Name of school/group, contact name and phone number, age of pupils, number of pupils and topic required.
